Shillong, Nov 30: Meghalaya BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai and BJP state unit president Ernest Mawrie on Wednesday paid a visit to GNRC Hospital in Guwahati to sympathize with Inspector of Customs and Central Excise Alok Kumar, who was attacked by miscreants on November 24, 2022, in Shillong.
The BJP leaders said they were devastated looking at how brutally the officer was assaulted. They also contributed funds to Kumar so that it can be of some help with the hospital bills.
Kumar, who is yet to come to terms on how he was assaulted, narrated the incident to the BJP leaders. Kumar’s relatives informed that earlier he did not have too much of difficulty in hearing even without his hearing aid but now it has become more hard for him to hear well.
“I knew what had happened at Mukroh and I was in Shillong for a training. I was under the weather that was why I had gone out to get some medicines. My luck was so bad that most of the shops were closed due to the rally at Civil. After finding one at Police Bazar I was walking back,” recalled Kumar.
He mentioned that the road was deserted and near IGP there were a group of boys smoking who attacked him from behind.
