SI Junmoni Rabha Death Case: Assam CM directs DGP to visit CBI office in Delhi tomorrow

Guwahati, June 11: In a major development into the suspicious death of Assam “Dabaang” cop, Morikolong sub-inspector (SI) Junmoni Rabha, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh to visit the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in New Delhi on Monday (June 12).

The visit of GP Singh aims to discuss the transfer of SI Junmoni Rabha’s death case from the CID Assam to the premier investigating police agency.

While speaking to the media, Assam DGP GP Singh said that on the directions of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, he will be visiting the CBI office on June 12. He also said that he hopes that Junmoni Rabha’s death case will be transferred to CBI after the discussions with top CBI officials in New Delhi.

Assam DGP GP Singh had officially recommended the transfer of investigations of all four cases registered in Assam’s Nagaon and Lakhimpur districts to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on May 20. His recommendations came after reviewing every aspect of the case and holding discussions with CID Assam and senior police officers.

While addressing to the press in Guwahati, DGP GP Singh said that the decision to transfer the investigation the case to CBI has been taken based on two grounds.
