Guwahati, April 1: Assam police has arrested the owner of a Dhaba ( line hotel) in Bongaigaon district for putting up posters of pro khalistan leaders and proscribed Khalistan flag.
The roadside dhaba owned by one Gurmukh Singh, had put up a hoarding of Sikh radical Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala. It also had a poster of controversial rapper Sidhu Moose wala and a poscribed flag of Khalistan.
The members of Youth wing of BJP reported about the posters to police after which police acted, sources added.
The arrested Dhaba owner, Gurmukh Singh hails from Tarn Taran district of Punjab, who was in Assam for years, police sources added.
“We suspect that he displayed such posters in his dhaba premises to attract truck drivers, a significant number of whom hail from Punjab. Otherwise, it would be irrational for him to publicly display such posters,” another police official said.
