Gangtok, Jan 21: In good news for the people of Sikkim, the state government has decided to provide “child care assistance” for an entire year on the state’s expense for government employees.
To improve Sikkim’s fertility rate, such a move has been taken by the Prem Singh Tamang led government.
On Thursday, Chief minister Prem Singh Tamang announced “child care facilities for female employees of the state government beyond the stipulated one year of maternity leave” would be offered.
Talking to media persons, CM Tamang said, “The government shall offer child care help (nanny) to women employees of the state government for one complete year to enable working mothers to return to their job after completion of the stipulated one year of maternity leave.”
