Guwahati, Feb 4: Assam Police on Tuesday evening arrested six persons along with assault rifles and grenade launchers at Gossaigaon area of Kokrajhar district in western Assam’s Boroland territorial region.
The haul includes five AK 56 rifles with 8 magazines, one HK 33E Rifle, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) with 11 shells, eight Chinese hand grenades, and 300 AK 56 ammunition.
“At about 7:30 PM on the basis of a source information, that some miscreants equipped with arms ammunitions and explosive are moving in a Scorpio vehicle (bearing registration number AS-16-A-4165) at village Niasraibil area under Gossaigaon PS, wherein charge Mithun Tuye and his team stopped the vehicle and found the arms on thorough searching,”
The six persons have been identified as Samanjay Basumatary alias Bogla (35 years), Rubinath Narzary alias Ganda (25 years), Pungka Basumatary alias Langkhu, Mwktang Basumatary alias Mamo, Manipal Mushahary (34 years) and Swmkwr Basumatary (26 years)
The arrested have been presented to the judicial magistrate and taken to police custody for questioning, a source in Gossaigaon police station said.
