Gangtok, Dec 1: Six people lost their lives, and several others were injured in a bus accident at Atal Setu in Rangpo, Sikkim, on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Gopal J. Prasad from Gangtok, Ajay Tamang from Garubathan, Julu Kumari from Rangpo, Indrajit Singh from Siliguri, Ikbal Hassan from Kolkata, and an unidentified individual currently receiving care at Rangpo Hospital.
The accident occurred when a Quality Bus reportedly lost control, veered off its lane, and crashed. The driver and conductor sustained severe injuries and are undergoing treatment at Singtam Hospital.
Among the injured are Basanti Barma, Nausad Alam, Samir Choudhuri, Sazir Alam, Amit Tamang, Shankar Dakua, Nashwad Alam, Suman Choudhuri, Sunita Devi, Taufik Alam, Rahul Alam, Deepak Chettri, Patamoli Barman, Sahanawaz, and Tajimuddin Ansari.
The injured include both local residents and travelers from neighboring states. They are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals in the area.
