Shillong, June 25: In a significant boost to local healthcare services, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh inaugurated a new X-Ray unit at the Smit Primary Health Centre (PHC) on Monday.
This new X-Ray unit is expected to significantly improve diagnostic services at the Smit PHC, providing timely and accurate medical care to the local population.
Lyngdoh highlighted that her visit was not only for the inauguration but also to review the progress of ongoing work at the health centre. She stated that there was a request from the Dorbar to upgrade the PHC to a Community Health Centre (CHC). The minister pointed out that land for expansion is already available and that engineers are currently engaged in the project.
Lyngdoh also emphasized the importance of maintaining a connect between health officials and the local community to ensure successful project implementation. She urged the Health Department officers to actively follow up on the Dorbar’s proposal, underscoring the collective responsibility to serve the people and save lives.
“Regardless of who the patients are, our goal is to ensure the best possible care and to save lives,” Lyngdoh stated. She called on all officials and doctors to work closely with the Dorbar Shnong for the smooth functioning of the PHC.
