Smuggling attempts foiled by BSF in Meghalaya

Shillong, Jan 20: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier on Sunday successfully thwarted multiple smuggling attempts to smuggle various contraband items to Bangladesh through the international border.

Acting on specific intelligence input, BSF troops launched a series of operations in East Jaintia Hills (EJH) and West Garo Hills (WGH). During these operations, a substantial haul of illegal goods was intercepted. This included IV cannula sets, cough syrup, cattle, blankets, sugar, zeera, chocolate and a TATA truck used for transporting the contraband items. The total value of the seized items was estimated at ₹52.76 lakh.

The confiscated goods have been handed over to relevant Customs offices and police stations for further investigation and legal action.
