Shillong, Oct 26: The Sohra District Demand Forum (SDDF) on Wednesday met with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to submit a memorandum regarding their demand for upgradation of Sohra Civil Sub-Division into a full-fledged District.
According to SDDF general secretary John W Thabah it was a positive meeting stating that the CM has assured to look into their demands.
Thabah added that the CM has also informed them that the issue will be forwarded to the Chief Secretary to look into the documents presented by the Forum to the government.
Sohra Civil Sub Division has been one of the oldest division in Meghalaya and the Forum felt that their demand is genuine, saying that they have also justified their demands from the socio, economic and developmental aspects.
“More than 200 villages will be expected to be under Sohra District, only 3 or 4 villages will not be in it and this matter will be looked into by the government ,” said Thabah.
