Tura, May 13: In a united show of support for the country’s armed forces, two simultaneous solidarity bike rallies were held in Tura and Shillong, organised by the respective Deputy Commissioners’ offices in collaboration with local riding groups.
In Tura, the West Garo Hills District Administration joined hands with the Royal Enfield Riders of Garo Hills to organise a Solidarity Ride as a gesture of appreciation for the dedication and bravery of India’s soldiers.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Agarwal flagged off the rally and praised the riders for their participation. “This rally is a small token of appreciation for the courage, hard work and sacrifices made by our armed forces. Let us also commit to being responsible riders and citizens,” Agarwal said. Additional Deputy Commissioners and several biking enthusiasts were also present during the event.

Simultaneously, in Shillong, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, led by R.M. Kurbah, organised a similar tribute ride. The rally, flagged off at Golflink by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shanborlang Warjri, culminated at the State Central Library. Speaking at the closing programme, Kurbah paid heartfelt tribute to the armed forces, particularly in light of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. “The peace we enjoy is earned by their sleepless nights. This rally is our way of saying—we are with them,” she said.
Kurbah further emphasised that soldiers, no matter where they are deployed, are never alone. “India stands together with its protectors. We remain confident in their strength and in the ultimate triumph of our nation,” she concluded.
