Tura, July 6: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operation Team (SOT) of the Silkigre Police Station under the South Garo Hills on Thursday apprehended two individuals and recovered weapons from their possession.
The operation was conducted under the investigation of Silkigre PS case no. 01(05)2023, U/s 341/323/394/34 IPC, R/w Sec 25(1)(B)(a) Arm Act.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Chengsang M. Marak, a resident of West Garo Hills, and Sengchang N. Sangma, hailing from South Garo Hills.
Acting on credible source inputs, the Special Operation Team, under the leadership of SGH DEF, carried out the operation. During the operation, the team managed to recover two country-made grenades and one Chinese Pistol from the possession of Chengsang M. Marak and Sengchang N. Sangma.
The matter is currently under investigation as police is trying to determine the motive and any potential links these individuals may have to larger criminal networks.
