South West Garo Hills honours teachers with awards and a grand celebration on Teachers’ Day

Ampati, Sept 05: In a grand celebration held at the Multi Facility Centre in Ampati, South West Garo Hills, Teachers’ Day was commemorated with utmost enthusiasm and respect. The event, themed “The transformation of education begins with teachers,” was organized collaboratively by the Office of the District School Education Officer, District Mission Coordinator, and Sub-divisional School Education Officer, Ampati.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Sanjay A Sangma, MLA of Mahendraganj and Chairman of Meghalaya Board Directors Infratech & Innovation Corporation Limited, who served as the Chief Guest, and Akhtar Ali, MDC of Zikzak, Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills, who honored the event as the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were YW Momin, ADC of South West Garo Hills, along with teachers and students from various educational institutions across South West Garo Hills.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the presentation of District Awards to teachers who have made remarkable contributions in their field. These awards served as a token of appreciation for their selfless service and tireless dedication.

Sanjay Sangma, in his address, extended warm wishes to all teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. He lauded their relentless commitment to the betterment of society despite facing numerous challenges. He emphasized the role of teachers in shaping the future and commended the efforts of the Conrad Sangma-led Meghalaya State Education Commission in addressing issues faced by schools and educational institutions.

Deputy Commissioner RP Marak expressed his delight at being part of this momentous event. He congratulated the awardee teachers and expressed gratitude to the entire teaching community. Acknowledging the challenging working environment faced not only by students but also by teachers, he highlighted the government’s initiatives to improve schools and urged teachers to instill character and independent thinking in their students. He also encouraged them to guide students toward diverse career opportunities beyond government exams.
