Tura, Sept 13: Along with the rest of the world, South West Garo Hills district on Tuesday observed World Mental Health Day programme at the Multi Facility centre, Ampati.
In a bid to promote mental health and generate awareness on mental health issues affecting today’s younger generation, the observation was organised by the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, South West Garo Hills in collaboration with district Legal services Authority, Ampati, under the theme ‘Mental Health Promotion and Suicide prevention’.
The programme was marked by an awareness rally on mental health by students along with mental health workers, role-play on causes and prevention of suicide by students from different schools in Ampati and others.
In commemoration of suicide prevention week, several activities were organized, including a bike rally, slogan writing competition for school students, and a cricket match.
The top three winners of the slogan writing competition and the A.kawe Motorcycle Club of Tura were recognized and honoured during the event.
