Shillong, Nov 30: The Shillong Press Club (SPC) on Friday condemned the recently incident where a senior member of the press fraternity, Martin Nongkhlaw, was robbed and his car vandalised just outside the gate of the Shillong Press Club.
The incident has raised concerns over safety and security of citizens.
A statement issued by the SPC president, M Siangshai, said that the Shillong Press Club condemns the incident and urges police authorities to expedite the process of investigation at the earliest to ensure that the guilty are booked as per law.
He said that the frequent theft cases in the city pose a threat to the citizens at large where even private residences and church premises are not safe as miscreants were seen entering and committing theft.
It is a matter of concern for the state as such cases are reported almost on a daily basis.
The SPC has urged the government to formulate a plan of action to instill a sense of safety and security for the citizens of this state.
