Shillong, Oct 16: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma on Wednesday expressed grief and sorrow on the demise of former legislator of Nartiang constituency, H Britainwar Dan.
H Britainwar Dan, fondly called as Ma Dan, passed away on Wednesday.
He was elected from Nartiang constituency for 3 consecutive terms and also served as a cabinet minister. He also served as leader of the opposition. He was also elected twice as MDC to the Jaintia Hills District Council and was also Chief Executive member.
Commissioner & Secretary Dr Andrew Simons also expressed grief and sorrow on behalf of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. He recalled the days when he was associated with Ma Dan. “Ma Dan was a veteran legislator and was closely associated with (L) Ma Ripple Kyndiah and (L) Ma John Deng Pohrmen. He was mild, soft spoken with good political acumen. He will be remembered for his tireless devotion to the people and his political legacy,” he said.
They have offered their deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and pray that the Almighty will give them strength and fortitude to overcome this irreparable loss.
