Shillong, Feb 26: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today decided to amend the Mandatory Medical Service policy for Medical Students for UG and PG, pursuing academic curriculum under the state government sponsorship/state quota.
“Through the Policy, doctors working for non-profit organizations and central institutions in the state will be exempted from mandatory service in government hospitals”, a statement issued in CMO Meghalaya said.
Other decision included, approval of the Meghalaya Urban Parking Policy 2025. This basically is being done as part of the comprehensive mobility plan and entails a comprehensive parking policy for unorganised on street parking in urban areas.
The chief minister informed that with the absence of a mechanism to take fees for vehicles that are parked on the road poses great challenge with growing urbanisation and traffic concerns also voiced by various local Dorbar and localities.
He said that the Government will work with the community for proper implementation of the parking reforms to make urban areas more organised.
