Agartala, April 22: Heavy rain and storms battered several parts of Tripura on Monday, damaging at least 445 houses and injuring two people after a roof collapsed on them.
The storm also uprooted trees and brought down numerous electric poles, disrupting power supply in several areas.

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, the worst-hit area was Mohanpur Sub-division in West Tripura district, where 261 houses were damaged—65 severely and 196 partially. Karbook in Gomati district also faced major devastation with 158 houses damaged, including 26 fully, 83 severely, and 49 partially.

Other affected regions include Sonamura Sub-division in Sepahijala district with 7 houses damaged, Jirania in West Tripura with 3 partially damaged houses, and Teliamura in Khowai district where 16 houses were damaged.

Karbook also reported 14 uprooted trees and 22 damaged electric poles. In Udaipur Sub-division, 10 trees were uprooted, and 27 electric poles were damaged.

Authorities are assessing the full extent of the damage as relief and restoration work continues.
