Sunday showers give relief from dry and hot weather in Shillong

Shillong, April 5: The temperature in Shillong had reached an all-time high in the last few weeks, with temperatures ranging from 29°C to 30°C degrees, making the weather unbearable for the citizens who were not accustomed to experiencing such heat.

On Sunday Shillong and other parts of the state, experienced showers which brought some respite from the heat. The rains have significantly lowered the temperature, with temperatures recorded at 22°C in Shillong and expected to drop further to 19°C.

In the past few weeks the weather had affected every aspect of life, with forest fires being reported frequently. As per the report water streams were on the verge of drying.

The residents were alarmed with the government notification stating that the main source of water supply for the entire population is drying up rapidly, and water supply will only last for a few months if the monsoon gets delayed.

However, Sunday showers brought a sigh of relief to the citizens.
