Rugala ceremony is the most important spiritual ceremony of the festival and is held a day ahead of the 100 Drums Wangala Dance. Rugala ceremony is performed by the Nokma (village chief) wherein he displays his valuable gongs covered with long banana leaves
Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A Sangma, who is also the Chairman, Board of Directors, Meghalayan Infratech and Innovations Corporation Limited, graces the final day of the 100 Drums Wangala Festival as the Chief Guest at Baljek in Jengjal.
As hundreds of tourists flocked to this year’s Wangala Festival at the Baljek Airport in Jengjal in West Garo Hills, some 30 kms from Tura, Hub News got in touch with Andre Wowkonowicz, a French national who is visiting the enthralling festival for the second time, to learn about his experiences and learnings from the festival and of the Garo community.
To ensure smooth flow of traffic and safety of all during the 100 Drums Wangala Festival from November 9 to 11, the West Garo Hills police has put in place traffic arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival.
