A pathbreaking voice-tech solution inspired by the challenges of rural Meghalaya has won the first prize at the prestigious AI for Good Hackathon hosted by the Harvard Kennedy School.

In a landmark step towards linguistic inclusion and technological advancement, the Government of Meghalaya signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Digital India Bhashini Division, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, for the launch and integration of Garo and Khasi languages into the BHASHINI platform.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad k Sangma informed about these technological interventions and road map ahead while virtually inaugurating the two-day workshop on Emerging Technologies at the State Convention Centre in Shillong on Thursday.
