The Assam Cabinet has recognised Manipuri as an associate official language in four districts of the state. The cabinet has given its nod to approve the Assam Official Language (Amendment) Bill, 2024 which seeks to recognise Manipuri as an associate official language in Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Hojai districts in the Barak valley.
The bill will prohibit healing sessions and provide strong action against 'healers' extorting the poor and downtrodden people in the name of treatment.
