Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday came down heavily on Bengal and Jharkhand government for taking 'soft stand' on Rohingya infiltration issue.
Addressing a press conference, Sarma said, "So far, eight people have applied under the newly amended CAA. Out of those eight, only two attended the citizenship interview. We will give a chance to all people whose cases are pending in different courts to apply for CAA."
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has requested the intervention of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to launch a probe into the death of Niksamseng Ch Marak, who died under suspicious circumstances at a rehab centre in Goalpara in Assam.
