Assam Police detained six Bangladeshi nationals in Karimganj district on Thursday, marking another incident of illegal entry along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The overall tally of arrested operatives of ULFA(I) in ongoing operation named ‘Operation Crackdown’ has reached 16 people with two more nabbed in the latest operation on Monday.
The four officials given the award in the Special Operations field are all part of Assam’s Special Task Force (STF). They are IGP and head of STF, Partha Sarathi Mahanta; Addl. SP, Kalyan Kumar Pathak; LNK, Hemanta Kachari; and UB Constable, Rajkumar Kaibartta.
In a major anti-insurgency operation that was conducted over several days in Assam, the Assam Police, in coordination with Military Intelligence from Kolkata, have apprehend 10 Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and linkmen linked to ULFA (I).
The incident came to light when a person, who had tested positive for HIV, was intercepted while trying to sell his blood. It was later learnt that he had donated blood earlier, however, the accused denied knowing about his health condition

Yet again, Assam police have apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals for illegally attempting to enter India through Karimganj. They were apprehended on Sunday.
