Studies have revealed that narrow roads, on-street parking and increasing number of private vehicles are key factors contributing to the traffic congestion in Shillong city.
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge District Council Affairs, Prestone Tynsong, on Wednesday said the matter relating to the proposed revenue enhancement to the three Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) is under examination.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday informed that the unemployment rates in Meghalaya has decreased over the seven-year period from 2017 to 2024, with unemployment rate at a high of 8.8% in 2017-2018 and reaching a low of 1.9% in 2021-22. He was referring to the database of the Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy.

Informing this in his reply during the Assembly on Monday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that unemployment rate in the state on average is around 3%, which is below the national average at 4.7%.
Replying in the Assembly, Tynsong said the government has sanctioned 140 two-wheelers and 80 Boleros for the various police stations to ensure the policing system in the state improves as much as possible.
Replying during the question hour, Tynsong said once land is beng handed over to the police department, the process of creation of infrastructure will start.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday tabled a Rs 2,029 crore deficit budget for 2024-25, which is around 3.83 percent of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
Replying in the Assembly, Sangma said that the government is in the process of sanctioning 100 additional posts of faculty in Tura and 6 for Shillong campus.
