Tripura Government has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of BNSS in the Jirania Sub-division of West Tripura District till August 28, following outbreak of communal tension in Durganagar village.
The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has assured to constitute a special committee to take up issues relating to the alleged non-inclusion of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India.
In a move to reform the criminal justice system, three newly enacted laws—the BNS, BNSS, and BSA—will come into effect from July 1, 2024. These laws, introduced in Parliament during its Monsoon session in August last year, will replace the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872, respectively.
