Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday during the last Budget session of the Legislative assembly said he will never allow the business of child marriage to take place in the state of Assam till he his alive.
According to reports, Assam Police carried out raids at multiple locations of Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Gossaigaon, Serfanguri, Kachugaon, Bogoribari in Kokrajhar.
Assam government has launched a massive crackdown against child marriage in the state, and so far, over dozens of people have been arrested who were directly connected with the social evil.
In a new development, the Assam government is all set to re-launch it’s campaign against child marriages in the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday. He said that state police will arrest around 3,000 men in the coming days.
