Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday visited the flood and landslide hit areas of West Garo Hills district and interacted with the affected families in relief camps and villages as well as distributed ex-gratia to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the recent tragedies.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma visited the family of Late Bijoy S Marak (Father) and Late Wian Chigado R. Marak (Son) at Rongkhon Songgital in Tura & handed over ex-gratia payment.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma would be visiting the flood and landslide affected areas of Garo Hills on Tuesday to assess the situation and interact with the villagers and inmates in relief camps.
At least 10 people have been confirmed dead due to the heavy rains lashing the Garo Hills region, which has trigged multiple landlines, mudslides and flash floods. The natural calamity has led to severe devastation with some of the wooden bridges being washed away, houses damaged and road connectivity cut-off.
