The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Wednesday asked the district administration of East Khasi Hills to impose a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers during the upcoming Diwali celebrations.
In a proactive move to combat air pollution and promote environmental sustainability, the West Garo Hills District has issued comprehensive instructions applicable throughout the district for New Year celebrations.
With the upcoming Diwali festival scheduled for November 12, the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has allowed the sale and purchase of firecrackers to be done only from the duly recognised retail outlets.
