Defeated Congress candidate from Karimganj constituency, Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury on Monday filed an election petition in the Gauhati High Court seeking a fresh election in 7-Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency keeping the election of BJP candidate Kripanath Mallah in abeyance.
Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury, Congress candidate for Assam Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency, who lost to the BJP's sitting MP Kripanath Mallah by 18,360 votes, on Monday said he will approach Gauhati High Court over the issue of difference in the number of polled votes on the days of voting and counting.
