The Hynniewtrep Border Dispute Redressal Forum (HBDRF) has urged the state government to recognize and include the 36 villages of Elaka Labang Nongphyllut under Block I in the state's official records and electoral systems.
Chairman of the Hynñiewtrep Border Dispute Redressal Forum (HBDRF), Chandame Sungoh, has stated that April 13 will always be remembered as a day of sorrow for the Khasi-Pnar people residing in Block I and Block II.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, the Forum expressed its concern over media reports indicating that the government is nearing the final phase of the Assam-Meghalaya boundary dispute settlement. The HBDRF criticised the regional committee tasked with reporting on Block I for finalising its findings without conducting any on-site verification.
