Cabinet Minister and Government spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh on Wednesday said that the government do not see the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) as an “enemy”.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home, Prestone Tynsong, the government is ready to meet the top leaders of the HNLC at their “preferred location” to take forward and ensure the peace talks have a positive conclusion.

MDA government spokesperson and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Monday said the government is committed towards the peace talks with the banned militant outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
Speaking to reporters, Sadon Blah mentioned that the government should not adhere strictly to a 'legal' process but rather adopt a 'political' approach if they wish for the peace process to move forward.
The HNLC has stated that their demand for general amnesty for their cadres was not met; therefore, there is no point in moving forward with the peace talks process.
After the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council withdrew from the peace talks, the government of Meghalaya is appealing to the Council to reconsider and urging the HNLC not to withdraw from the ongoing tripartite peace talks.
