The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has requested the intervention of the Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) Idashisha Nongrang into the problem of drug menace in the state.

Newly-appointed Director General of Police (DGP) Idashisha Nongrang has expressed that she is absolutely not in line with the idea of having a separate cadre for Meghalaya.

Idashisha Nongrang will be donning the khaki uniform on May 20th when she takes over as the first tribal woman DGP of the state- a spotlight that will be on her for the next two years. But much of her life was spent behind the shadows ( or curtains) as she charted a career in the country’s top anti-espionage agency- the Intelligence Bureau in which she served in Delhi and even the North East.
