On 189th death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem, state BJP has demanded national recognition for the freedom fighter and asked the Central government to give him his due place in the halls of Parliament by unveiling a portrait of the late local Chieftain.
Syiemlieh, extensively researched the life of the Khasi freedom fighter, said that Tirot Sing was placed under house arrest in a rented house by the British.
