The state government has assured to consult all stakeholders during the framing of the Rules to the Meghalaya Investment Promotion & Facilitation Act, 2024.
The proposed amendments were revealed following a crucial meeting between Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma with the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday, to address concerns raised on the Act by the union.
“We are not satisfied with the outcome of the meeting (that lasted) for nearly an hour and a half. We told the government your verbal assurance cannot be accepted as we still remain apprehensive and if the Act (is allowed) to remain like this then it should be scrapped immediately,” KSU general secretary Donald V Thabah told reporters after the meeting.
