After several organisations threatened a section of the Muslim community to leave the upper Assam districts or face consequences, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) on Monday submitted a memorandum to Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya seeking action against the organisations.
Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been made the Governor of Assam with the additional charge of Manipur, replacing Gulab Chandra Kataria who has replaced Banwarilal Purohit as the Governor of Punjab under major gubernatorial appointments announced by the president of India late on July 27.
