Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has announced that the state government is actively working on the expansion of Shillong Airport’s runway to enhance its capacity and connectivity.

He emphasized that Shillong’s terrain makes it particularly suited for small aircraft and helicopter travel, which are crucial for local socio-economic activities.

In a major initiative towards creating job opportunities for the local youth, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday announced that the government will appoint locals as 'Tourist Assistants' in a phased manner. These semi-uniformed personnel will serve as tour guides, provide security, and offer information to tourists.
