This decision comes after the Commission received numerous representations to change the counting date from a Sunday, which holds special significance for the people of Mizoram.
The assembly polls in Mizoram have become interesting after the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), the second largest party in Mizoram legislative assembly, criticised ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) for not doing anything in their last five years.
Tawnluia, a veteran Mizo National Front (MNF) leader, has been elected to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly on the MNF ticket in the years 1987, 1989, 1998, and 2003. He again won the Tuichang assembly seat in 2018.
Mizoram will vote for all 40 assembly seats on November 7, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on October 9. The counting of the votes will be held on December 3.
