The Mizoram Police has started rescue operations to bring back three women of the state stuck in Syria. They were engaged as housemaids but are now facing serious hardship.
In a major crackdown, three drug peddlers including two women were arested from Mizoram's Champhai district and 11.39 kg methamphetamine tablets and 218 grams of heroin were recovered from their posession.
Mizoram Director General of Police Anil Shukla on Thursday rewarded H. T. Vanlalruati, an executive security at Indigo Airlines, with Rs 5,000 and a letter of appreciation.
The drug peddlers have been identified as Sourabh Nath (34) and Mohammad Nur Ahmed (39). Nath and Ahmed are residents of northern Tripura, adjoining Mizoram and Bangladesh.
