A 78-year-old man from eastern Mizoram travels 3 kilometres every day to reach his classroom while putting on a school uniform and carrying a bag full of books.

Despite several requests, the Central government is yet to provide any funds to Mizoram to provide relief to over 12,600 people who took shelter in the state after being displaced from Manipur.

Around 35,000 Myanmar nationals, including children and women, have taken shelter in Mizoram since February 2021, after the Myanmar military, following a coup, took over the governance.
