The Post Graduate Students' Union (PGSU) of NEHU’s Tura Campus has called the appointment of Dr. Fameline K. Marak as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Pro-VC) of the Tura Campus as both “long-awaited” and “much-needed.”

With Professor Fameline K. Marak assuming office as the new Pro Vice Chancellor (Pro-VC) of NEHU’s Tura campus on Wednesday, a new wave of optimism has swept through the campus with students seeing this as a crucial step towards bridging the gap between students and the administration, and addressing critical student needs.

Prof. Sherwin M. Sungoh has informed that she has assumed charge as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), in response to directives from the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, and requests from State Government officials.

The ongoing stand-off between the North-Eastern Hill University’s (NEHU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. PS Shukla and its statutory bodies – NEHU Students’ Union (NEHUSU), Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA), and Non-Teaching Association (NEHUNSA) has severely impacted the functioning of the university with several projects and sanctioning of funds pending.

Professor Fameline K. Marak today assumed charge as the new Pro Vice Chancellor, effective March 26, 2025 of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus.

After officially writing to the North Eastern Hill University’s students’ union, teachers’ association and non-teaching association to work together peacefully towards the progress of the university, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice Chancellor, Prof P S Shukla, on Tuesday announced that Prof Sherwin May Sungoh has been appointed as the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Pro VC) of NEHU’s Shillong Campus.

The North-Eastern Hill University Students' Union (NEHUSU) and the Khasi Students' Union (KSU), NEHU Unit, have asked the non-teaching staff to defy all directions issued by the Vice Chancellor Prof PS Shukla and registrar Col Omkar Singh.
