The Meghalaya High Court on Friday decided to review the situation in the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on December 6, after the inquiry committee probing into allegations against the incumbent Vice Chancellor Prof PS Shukla and administrative irregularities submits its report and recommendations.
The Meghalaya High Court on Wednesday directed the state authorities to advise the striking students of NEHU of any medical risk associated with the hunger strike and take steps necessary in accordance with the law.
The announcement was made on Wednesday evening by NEHU Students’ Union (NEHUSU) president, Sandy Sohtun, after intense appeals by different sections including teachers, community members and doctors, and partial fulfilment of their demands
