Lone Rajya Sabha MP Dr WR Kharlukhi on Tuesday assured to take up with the Centre on the need for the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) to implement 80:20 female-male ratio in the recruitment of nurses in the institute.

The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) is extending facility under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between NEIGRIHMS and the CGHS on 25th February 2025, marking a historic achievement for the institution and healthcare access in the North Eastern region of India.

A one day “hands on” training program on “Basic Life Support” for Doctors, Nurses and Laboratory Technicians of Blood Centres of Meghalaya, was organized by Meghalaya AIDS Control Society with Meghalaya State Blood Transfusion Council in collaboration with the Departments of Transfusion Medicine and Blood Centre and Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, NEIGRIHMS, in the Department of Transfusion Medicine and Blood Centre, NEIGRIHMS on August 29, last.

Over 425 nursing personnel and faculty members from across Meghalaya participated in a two-day intensive workshop on OT Nursing, organized by NEIGRIHMS' Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Cell on June 27 & 28.

Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday said the state government will pursue the Centre to declare the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) as an Institute of National Importance (INI).
