Hundreds of people on Thursday blocked National Highway 8 in protest against the police detention of five local youths in connection with the recent incident of vandalism and arson of minority houses and vehicle in West Tripura district.
The TMP, which has been demanding 'Greater Tipraland', or a separate state for the tribals under Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitution, held their demonstration on NH-8, disrupting vehicular movement on the vital road.
