A conglomeration of traditional headmen, women groups and other civil organizations of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills under the banner of the Meghalaya Indigenous Tribes Constitutional Rights Movement (MITCRM) has requested the intervention of the President of India Droupadi Murmu for the immediate removal of the incumbent Vice Chancellor of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla for alleged mismanagement and administrative failures that has led to the present crisis in the university.
The announcement was made on Wednesday evening by NEHU Students’ Union (NEHUSU) president, Sandy Sohtun, after intense appeals by different sections including teachers, community members and doctors, and partial fulfilment of their demands
