Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills and Returning Officer of Shillong parliamentary constituency SC Sadhu on Monday reiterated that victory processions and rallies should not disturb law and order during the counting of votes.
East Khasi Hills district administration has revoked its order prohibiting taking out of victory processions and rallies in the entire district during the counting of votes for the general elections to the 18th Lok Sabha on June 4.
Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District SC Sadhu on Wednesday said elaborate arrangements have been made for the purpose of counting of votes for the general elections to the 18th Lok Sabha on June 4.
SC Sadhu, the Returning Officer for the Shillong Parliamentary seat and Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District, emphasized stringent enforcement of Section 144 on the upcoming counting day.
Security has been beefed up in the state capital as well as in the different district headquarters following frequent arson attacks on government properties including police stations.
The defence state office, Guwahati has assured to submit a detailed survey report in regards to the plot of land at Lum Survey in Shillong, following the alleged detection of illegal settlers and complaints of illegal activities.
East Khasi Hills deputy commissiner SC Sadhu will hold a meeting with the representatives of the Shillong Cantonment Board (SMB) in regards to illegal settlers at Lum Survey, on Tuesday.
