In view of the extreme cold wave and the upcoming Christmas and New Year, the Manipur government announced on Thursday that schools will remain shut for 8 days starting December 23.

In order to discourage sale of tobacco products in and around the educational institutions, the West Khasi Hills Police recently penalized shops in Nongstoiñ selling tobacco products in close proximity to schools.
