Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has informed that 36 applications have been received for scientific coal mining in the State, out of which 4 received previous approval for mining lease, 13 received previous approval for prospecting license, 16 not yet received approval for prospecting license, and 3 have been withdrawn.
The Meghalaya Mineral Land Owners Lease Holders and Exporters Forum has expressed its full support for the upcoming public hearing to discuss the resumption of scientific coal mining in the state.
