An assistant professor from the Electrical Engineering Department at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar was arrested on Friday in connection with an alleged incident of sexual harassment.
Shankar Jyoti Baruah has resigned as the General Secretary of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) amid controversy surrounding his personal life and allegations of sexual harassment. Baruah announced his resignation via Facebook on Thursday, citing a recent dispute involving his relationship with a law student as the catalyst for his decision.
