Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri on Thursday accompanied 76-year-old marathon runner Kmoin Wahlang to meet Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, ahead of her participation in the upcoming Pan Pacific Masters Games 2024 in Gold Coast, Australia.
The state government has sanctioned funds to the tune of Rs 5.50 Crore for the implementation of various projects targeting the youth of the state through the Chief Minister Youth Development Scheme during 2023-2024.
Replying in the Assembly, Warjri said light snacks were served during the opening ceremony celebration of the games which also include the visit of the President of India as the chief guest.
Talking to reporters in Tura, Minister Shakliar explained, “We have prepared food for the athletes from the kitchen to the venue, but since vehicle movement was stopped, the vehicle transporting the food was also halted and reached the venue very late.”
The 5th Edition of the Meghalaya Games 2024 Torch Relay was flagged off on Tuesday by the Minister Incharge of Sports and Youth Affairs, Shakliar Warjri, scheduled to be held from January 15 to 20 in Tura, West Garo Hills District.
