Members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Save Shillong Sikhs (SSS) from Punjab have expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s proposal to relocate the residents of Them Iew Mawlong in Shillong.
Joining the rest of the Sikh community in the country, the Sikh faithful of Shillong celebrated Gurunanak Jayanti - the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of the faith, on Monday.
Every year, Guru Nanak Jayanti is observed on the full moon day in the month of Kartik, which usually falls in October or November according to the Gregorian calendar.
