Smriti Rekha Chakma, an indigenous Chakma artisan from Tripura, has dedicated her life to preserving the age-old tradition of loom weaving. Honoured with the Padma Shri in 2024 for her excellence in traditional weaving, she remains deeply concerned about the economic struggles forcing many talented women to abandon the craft.
